James Edward Kimmons

James Edward Kimmons, 90, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. James was born in Inman, South Carolina on March 25, 1926, a son of the late John Bunyan Kimmons and Laura Jane Cantrell Kimmons. He was the widower of Margaret Mae Owens Kimmons and retired as a supervisor with Lyman Printing and Finishing. He served in the U.S. Army in WW II, served as a former minister of music and deacon at Rock Hill Baptist Church and Motlow Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Kimmons was a member of Inman Mills Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and a member of the Seekers of Souls Sunday School Class. James was a former Gideon. He was a life-long Christian, who was dedicated to serving his church and church family. Mr. Kimmons had an unconditional love for his entire family.
Mr. Kimmons is survived by a daughter, Judy Bishop and her husband Randy; two sons Father Steven Kimmons, Les Kimmons and his wife Denise, a sister, Annie Mae Sawyer, a brother, Paul Kimmons, 4 granddaughters, Karen Thompson and her husband Tim, Cindy Garnett and her husband Gordon, Neale Caballero and her husband Daniel, Alex Kimmons, 6 great grandchildren, Josh Thompson, Lauren Thompson Boland, Scott Garnett, Becky Garnett, Brayden Garnett, Nicholas Caballero and 1 great, great granddaughter, Charlotte Boland.
In addition to his parents and spouse, James was predeceased by 6 sisters and 5 brothers.
Visitation will be held, Friday, July 1, 2016, from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM at Inman Mills Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM at Inman Mills Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Jack Hames and Father Steven Kimmons S.J. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman, South Carolina.
Serving as pallbearers, will be; Josh Thompson, Scott Garnett, Timothy Thompson, Gordon Garnett, Daniel Caballero and Matthew Boland. Honorary escort will be the Seekers of Souls Sunday School Class from Inman Mills Baptist Church and great-grandsons; Brayden Garnett and Nicholas Caballero.
The family is at the home of the daughter and son-in-law , 310 Zimmerman Road, Inman, South Carolina.
