James Cecil Gilbert

Inman, SC---James Cecil Gilbert, 82, of 290 Geddis Rd. passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at his residence. Born in Spartanburg County on August 2, 1933, he was a son of the late Robert and Florence (Painter) Gilbert and was the husband of the late Karen Frances (Ridings) Gilbert having celebrated 52 years of marriage before her passing in 2012. Cecil was of the Baptist faith, served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired from Milliken Chemical after 42 years of service. He is survived by one son, James "Randy "Gilbert and his wife Rita of Inman; three granddaughters, Brandy Gilbert and fiance`, Michael Pitts of Wellford, Tasha Blake and fiance` Tony Mabry, Jr. of Spartanburg and Brittany Fowler and fiance' Chris Wolfe of Boiling Springs; five great grandsons, Mason McCollum, Riley Pitts, Jaxson Hawkins, Timmy Fowler and Corey Fowler; one sister, Eula Rollins of Startex and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one son, Timothy S. Gilbert; one brother, Clifton "Kip" Gilbert; and five sisters, Bertha Kimbrell, Clara Cantrell, Louise Gilbert, Estelle Jarrell and Dorothy Smith. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 1:00-2:45 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 PM in the Seawright Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Frank Jones officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mobile Meals, PO Box 461 Spartanburg, SC 29304 or Piedmont Hospice, 1865 E. Main Street, Duncan, SC 29334. The family is at the home.
