James Russell Cooper, Sr.

James Russell Cooper, Sr., 81, of 12 Littlefield Street, Inman, SC, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 at his residence. 

James was born in Rutherford County, NC on January 23, 1942, a son of the late Grace (Alley) Cooper and Lewis Cooper.

He was the husband of Evelyn (Burrell) Cooper, having celebrated 50 years of marriage and was retired from Inman Mills.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by three daughters, Alisa Cheryl Hall, of Inman, SC; Wanda Sue Bear, of Campobello, SC; Audrey Cooper Bracken, of Easley, SC; two sisters, Linda Plumley, of Campobello, SC; Betty Lee, of Roebuck, SC. a brother, Harold Cooper, of Campobello, SC; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, James Russell Cooper, Jr., a brother, Robert Cooper and 2 sisters, Jeanette McCraw and Ada Green.

He served in the U.S. Army and the South Carolina National Guard.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 19th at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church with Mr. Harold Cooper officiating. The family is at his home and will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
