James E. "Bill" Campbell

James Earl "Bill" Campbell, 85, of 4371 New Cut Rd., went home to be with his Lord Thursday, March 17th, 2016 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital in Spartanburg, SC. Bill was born in Greer, SC on September 3, 1930, son of the late Thomas Earl "Jack" Campbell and Ruth Farmer Campbell.
He was the beloved husband of Doris (Davis) Campbell and a longtime member of Inman Mills Baptist Church. He enjoyed his Sunday School Class, served on various committees, and was a former deacon. Bill was a retired, self-employed, paint contractor and carpenter. He also served in the Army National Guard.
Surviving in addition to his wife Doris are three sons: Mike Campbell (Debbie) , Drew Campbell (Andrea), Tim Campbell (Pam) all of Inman, two daughters, Paige Campbell of Holiday, Florida, Tracey Fisk (Bruce) of Columbia, SC, three brothers, Harlon Campbell (Rachel) of Inman, Dever Campbell (Mary Rose) of Gastonia, NC, Leland Campbell, four sisters, Kathryn Hawkins of Greer, SC, Annie Crawford ( Ed) , Jean Hawkins (Frank) all of Taylors, SC, Sue Fowler of Duncan, SC, eleven grandchildren, Blake, Will, John, Brittany, Brad, Brandon, Ally, Lauren, Hope, Heather and Hollie, and three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Elle and Emma.
Bill was predeceased by a beloved son, Miles Campbell and a brother Gary Campbell.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the caregivers, Melinda Fowler, Joan Turner, Shelby Mills and Kelly Hawkins and the caring people at Lake Emory Post Acute Care.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Monday, March 21, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. at Inman Mills Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM conducted by Rev. Jack Hames.
His Sunday School Class is to serve as Honorary Escort. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Miles Campbell Scholarship Fund, Supporters of Dist.# 1 Schools, P.O. Box 218, Campobello, SC 29322. . An online guest register is available at this website.
