James Vernon Boone
James Vernon Boone, 94, of 28 1st Street Inman, SC passed away Saturday, September 15th, 2007 at Spartanburg Hospital For Restorative Care.
He was the son of the late William Lattimore and Delzie (Silvers) Boone and was married for 71 years to Sarah Othella (Atkins) Boone.
He retired from the supply department of Inman Mills and was a long time member of Inman Mills Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for over 50 years. He also served faithfully as a deacon and in other church ministries. In addition, he was a Mobile Meals Volunteer for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Shirley Bright of Spartanburg, one sister, Nettie McMillan and two brothers, Sam Boone and Floyd Boone, all of Greer, SC; three grandchildren, David Bright, Rev. Jonathan Bright and Julie Pence and their spouses, and also six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters Viola Dye and Martha Byars and two brothers Ostie and Lloyd Boone.
Funeral services will be held at Inman Mills Baptist Church on Monday, September 17, 2007 at 11 AM with Rev. Jack Hames and Rev. Jonathan Bright officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Bright, Kirby Bright, Evans Pence, Barry Burnett, Dean Hammett and J. R. Ford. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Martin/Boone Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends Monday 10-11 AM at Inman Mills Baptist Church.
