James Lowell "Jim" Ballenger

James Lowell "Jim" Ballenger, 73 of 14 Culbreth Street Inman died January 23,2008 at Laurels of Greentree Ridge in Asheville, North Carolina after an extended illness. A native of Inman, he was the son of Yancy Leo and Annie Grace Easler Ballenger. He is survived by two sons, Warren David Ballenger of Inman, and Kerry Harlan Ballenger and his wife Allison of Wellford, a brother, Donald Leo Ballenger of Holly Springs, three sisters, Minnie Guynelle Ballew of Campobello, Mildred Geraldine Bishop of Inman, and Doris Elaine Ewell of Greer, and a granddaughter, Tory Ballenger of Wellford.
Jim was a 26-year retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant and Viet Nam veteran whose decorations included the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Services Commendation Medal, and four Air Force Commendation Medals among others. After retiring from active duty in 1978, he was a long time employee of Hoke Incorporated of Spartanburg.
He was a graduate of Gramling High School in 1952 and later completed various communications and electronic schools in the Air Force.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:OOam Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 11:OOam. He requests no flowers and that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association 119 Eastwood Circle, Spartanburg, S.C. 29349.
