James Delmar Ball, 79, of 836A Oak Grove Road, Landrum, South Carolina, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at St Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC.
James was born in Rhoda, Virginia on December 21, 1942, a son of the late Verna Mae Lindsey Ball and James Roscoe Ball. He was the husband of Mary Jean Collins Ball.
He retired from underground coal mining and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Landrum. He served in the U.S. Marines Corps during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Monica Dorton and her husband, Jerry, of Big Stone Gap, VA, two sons, James "Marty" Ball Jr of Big Stone Gap, VA, Adam Woliver and his wife, Natalie, of Mt. Holly, N.C., and eight grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a daughter, Yolanda "YoYo" Ball and a brother, Phillip Ball.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Thursday, Oct. 27th at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Landrum, conducted by Rev. Lynn Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 826 Oak Grove Road, Landrum, S.C. 29356.
