James Daniel "J.D." Adkins
Spartanburg
James Daniel "J.D." Adkins, 81, of Parkwood Drive, Spartanburg, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022 at his residence.
J.D. was born in Cedar Bluff, VA on January 22, 1941, a son of the late Beaulah Vencill Adkins and Walter Thomas Adkins. He was the husband of Brenda Edwards Adkins of the home; and was first married to the late Wanda Brown Adkins.
He retired from Alcoa and Fluor Daniels with 25 years of service and was a Methodist. J.D. served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was the owner of Adkins Small Engine Repair in Wellford.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was also predeceased by a son, David Adkins (Elizabethton, TN) and a brother, Stanley Adkins (Easley). In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a brother, Fred Adkins (Ruth) of Bristol, VA., two sisters, Norma Puckett (Ken) of Gray Court, Debbie Tabor of Cedar Bluff, VA., a grandson, Jonathon Adkins (Kim), great grandchildren, Jackson, Kennedy, and Lincoln Adkins, a granddaughter, Maranda Adkins, and grandson, Mylan Adkins, all of Landrum.
Visitation will be held 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Friday, November 4th at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman.
A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 4th at Seawright Funeral Home with Mr. Marvin Blanton officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Redeemed Baptist Church Cemetery in Landrum, S.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Post #200 in Boiling Springs.
