Jack L.Taylor, beloved husband and loving father went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, March 28th, 2012. Jack passed away as a result of septic shock. He was born on March 24, 1926 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Jack married his Kent State University girlfriend, Rose Marie Poor on August 23, 1952, and they had two daughters, Cassandra Lee Evans (husband Jim), and Deborah Lynne Zemanek (husband Rich). Jack leaves behind three adoring grandchildren, Meghan Erin Evans, Meredith Ann Keyse (husband Jason Walton), and Kevin Taylor Reed. Jack also left behind his spunky cairin terrier, Marley, who could always con him into just one more treat.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Taylor. His siblings, Michelene Taylor, Albert Taylor, Joseph Taylor, and James Taylor preceded him to Heaven.
Jack graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School, Emory and Henry College with a BA, and Kent State University with a BS and an MA. He served in the United States Marine Corp. from April 22, 1944 until May 9, 1946, seeing active duty in the South Pacific. Jack taught school for a total of 36 years with most of his service at Geneva High School in Geneva, Ohio.
Jack was a great mentor to many young people. He was a coach, teacher, and a Boy Scout leader, even though he had no boys of his own. Jack was always a popular teacher because he had such a good sense of humor and a relaxed demeanor with his students. He was known by classes for years for his silly puns and jokes. Jack loved to learn about different cultures so it was a natural for him to be the Faculty Advisor for the American Field Service at Geneva High School for 18 years. The family hosted a young man from Iceland for a year. He also was the faculty advisor for the Aquila, the school's yearbook. Jack loved to read and learn himself. Jack was a kind, gentle soul who would help anyone in need.
Jack belonged to the Inman United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class. He was active in church and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and volunteered for hurricane relief. Jack loved gardening and loved to share his vegetables with friends. He had even started all his plants and tilled his soil this spring. Jack was also an avid muskie fisherman and took his family to Canada for over twenty years on fishing trips. Jack loved his family with all his heart and he was a devoted loving husband, father, and grandpa. Jack will be missed by all who knew him, but is with his eternal family now.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, SC. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral chapel conducted by Rev Ron Leonard. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association and Inman United Methodist Church.
