Mr. John Melvin Wingo, 79, of 1331 Little Mtn. Rd. Wellford, died Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 at Regional Hospice Home.
Mr. Wingo was born in Inman on March 20, 1930, the son of the late Alfred Bryant and Nannie Ella Cox Wingo. He was the husband of Lillian Easton Blackwell Wingo and had retired from Springs Industries. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church, the Sanctuary Sunday School Class and served in the U.S. Army in Korea.
Surviving in addition to his wife Lillian is a daughter, Myra McGraw and her husband Chuck of Wellford, SC, a brother, Bryant Wingo and his wife Hazel of Inman, a sister Kathleen Bradley also of Inman and one grandson, Parker McGraw of Wellford. Mr. Wingo was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Horton. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at 3:00 PM at Holly Springs Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Tim Clark and Mr. Robby Dismukes.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of his daughter at 1339 Little Mtn. Rd., Wellford.
