Joseph Luther "J.L."Fowler
J.L. Fowler, 87, of 200 Fortress Dr., Inman, SC, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Rosecrest Retirement Community. J.L. was born on September 1, 1927, a son of the late William and Lula (Holden) Fowler and was the devoted husband of Elizabeth "Libby" (Evington) Fowler having celebrated 59 years of marriage. Mr. Fowler retired from Spartanburg Medical and was formerly a automobile buyer and truck driver. He was a member of Gramling United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Ann Fryga Sunday School Class. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II and was a member of the American Legion Post #45 for over 50 years. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and was predeceased by two brothers, Noble Woodfin Fowler, Harry Franklin Fowler and two sisters, Ophelia Atkins and Clara Jackson. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Gramling United Methodist Church with Rev. Martin Atkins and Rev. Brad Atkins officiating. The family will receive friends in the church social hall immediately following the funeral service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.L. had a wonderful sense of humor and was always telling jokes to make people laugh. A special thank you to his niece Linda Hamrick for her love and care.
