Iris Turner Ludwig, of 241 Gramling School Road, Inman, SC, went
to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 . Iris, born May 30,
1943, is the daughter of Willis Brantley, deceased, and Mildred Brantley Davis of Aiken, SC. She is also the former wife of Eddie Turner of Augusta, GA.
Iris is survived by her husband Alvin Ludwig of Inman, SC, her two sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel Turner of Chesapeake, VA and Derrick and Amy Turner of Gaffney, SC. She also has two step children: Lisa Fowler, her husband Travis and son Biggs, and Jonathan Ludwig and his wife Kim. Also, Iris has three brothers and one sister: Leon Brantley, deceased; Melvin Brantley, Wayne Brantley and Nell Arnold.
Iris enjoyed singing in her church choir, clothes shopping, traveling in general and cruises in particular. Iris worked 17 years for Kmart Corp., and a receptionist at Cherokee Finishing Plant for 5 years. Iris was an active member of Holston Creek Baptist Church, where she served on many committees, attended several missions trips and was a member of the Caring Sunday School Class. A former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Iris taught Sunday School for many years. Also a former member of Westgate Baptist Church, Iris commissioned the Eddie Turner Scholarship to honor her former husband's love for knowledge. The scholarship is given each year to a deserving graduate of Westgate Christian School. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations given to the Eddie Turner Scholarship, Westgate Christian School, 1990 Old Reidville Rd. 29301.
The family will receive friends at the Holston Creek Baptist Church
Fellowship Hall from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM on Friday, June 22, 2007 followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM in the church sanctuary. Ministers in attendance will be Rev. Ed Deese, Rev. Donnan Lawson, and Rev. Reggie Parker. A private burial in Augusta, GA will follow.
