Rutherfordton, NC ---Mrs. Inez "Nanny" Knox Jones, 90,formerly of Inman, SC, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, June 1st, 2011 at Holly Springs Senior Citizens Rest Home, Rutherfordton, NC. Mrs. Jones was born in Moore, SC on September 22, 1920, the daughter of the late Woodard E. and Carrie (Miller) Knox and the widow of the late Rev. Osborne Frederick Jones. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Inman and had retired as a caregiver. She ministered to many people in her service to others. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Atlanta Braves. She was also a bird lover and enjoyed feeding and watching them. Survivors include two sons, Rev. Curtis Jones and his wife Elaine of Campobello, SC, Wayne Jones and his wife Judy of Houston, TX, a daughter, Linda Shehan and her husband Phil of Rutherfordton, NC, four grandchildren, Sandra D. Miller, Brent Jones, Jason Jones, and Matthew Jones, three great grandchildren, Haley Hagen, Hannah Miller and Daxton Jones. Also surviving are two sister-in -laws, Edna and Doris Knox and a brother-in-law, Thell Jones all of Spartanburg. There are several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jones was predeceased by three brothers, Harold, Robert, and Bud Knox and two sisters, Margaret Worthy and Gladys Carter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Gray's Chapel United Methodist Church, Rutherfordton, NC conducted by Dr. David R. Duncan and Rev. Curtis Jones. The family will receive friends Saturday before the services from 2 to 4 PM in the church. Interment will follow in the Whitney Community Cemetery in Spartanburg, SC.
