Herbert Hampton
Mr. Herbert Hampton, 80, of 2016 Evergreen Drive, Spartanburg passed away Friday, July 17th, 2009 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.
Mr. Hampton was born in Kannapolis, NC on October 29, 1928, the son of the late James Riley and Minnie Baugh Hampton and was the husband of Audrey (Howard) Hampton.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 1 son: Robert W Hampton and wife Tammie of Boiling Springs, 1 sister: Betty Reece of Kannapolis, 3 brothers: Everett Hampton of Chapel Hill, NC, Leonard Hampton of Burlington, NC, James Hampton of Hamlet, NC, 2 grandchildren: Andrew Hampton of Boiling Springs and Alana Hampton of Chicago. He was predeceased by a brother: Raymond Hampton.
He retired from AT & T, was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, served in the U. S. Marines in WW II, and enjoyed playing golf.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Monday 10:00 - 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg in the Davis Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg in the Davis Chapel at 11 :00 AM on Monday, July 20th, with Dr Don Wilton, Rev Bill Adams and Dr John Wilton officiating. The Dr. John Wilton Sunday Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escort.Pallbearers will be Carroll Campbell, Farroll Campbell, Andrew Hampton, Derrick Hall, Gary Vollmer and Jeff Mahaffey.
Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park in Boiling Springs, SC with Full Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621, or First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, Building in Faith, 250 E Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29306 or to the charity of one's choice.
