Helen Louise Burns Gowan, 83, of 133 Ridgeway Rd. Spartanburg, SC, passed away Monday, February 16th, 2015 at Greenvillle Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC. Mrs. Gowan was born in Landrum, SC on July 27, 1931 the daughter of the late Wilburn Ernest Burns and Toccoa Metcalf Burns. She was the widow of Walter Lee "Walt" Gowan and was a member of Holston Creek Baptist Church in Inman, SC. Mrs. Gowan had retired from the Spinning Department at Spartan Mills after 43 years of dedicated service. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Holmes and her husband John of Spartanburg, SC, two grandchildren, Shelley Catto and her husband Tony, Ashley Wilson and two great grandchildren, Cole Wilson and Dominic Catto.
THE PLACE OF SERVICE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO: SEAWRIGHT FUNERAL CHAPEL, 26 E. MAIN ST., INMAN, SC 29349 AT 1:00 PM. conducted by Rev. Mack Holloway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Memory of Helen Gowan to: Mt. View Baptist Church, Ecuador Missions, 5555 Parris Bridge Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316 . The family will be at 1212 River Oak Road, Inman, SC 29349. No formal visitation is planned.
