Harold Dean McKelvey

Harold Dean McKelvey, 89, of 6780 New Cut Road, Inman, SC, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Harold was born in Spartanburg, SC on June 6, 1935, a son of the late Ella (Satterfield) McKelvey and Ed McKelvey. He was first married to the late Betty Hall McKelvey and was retired from CRG Recycling. He was a member of Inman Mills Baptist Church, was a Mason and a Shriner.  He served in the U.S. Army in the Koren War. 

Harold is survived by two daughters, Tammy McClure and husband Robert, of Inman, SC; Angela Dowdle and husband John Wayne, of Inman, SC; two sisters, Evelene Koon, of Spartanburg, SC; Ruby Taylor and husband Eddie, of Sanford, NC, 1 brother, Eugene McKelvey and wife Caroline of Inman, SC, 2 grandchildren, Kristen Campbell (Travis), Trey McClure (Ashley), 4 great grandchildren, Noah, Kaylee, Colton and Konner and a special friend, Shirley Guest of Travelers Rest, SC. He was predeceased by a son, Franklin Dean McKelvey, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.  

The family is at the home of his daughter, 490 Windmill Hill Rd., Inman, and will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11th at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, SC. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 12th at Inman Mills Baptist Church in Inman, SC, with  Rev. Jack Hames officiating. 

Burial, with military honors, will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Landrum, SC. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert McClure, John Wayne Dowdle, Trey McClure, Travis Campbell, Larry Sims and Noah Grizzle.
