H. L. "Tommy" Maxwell

H. L. "Tommy" Maxwell, 93, of 219 Pinefield Circle, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Inman, South Carolina. Tommy was born in Inman, South Carolina on December 7, 1922, a son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Odie Moore Maxwell. He was married to the late Mariam Metcalf Maxwell. Tommy was a WW II Navy veteran, a member of Bethany Baptist church, where he was a former deacon, a member of the American Legion Post #45, Lone Oak Masonic Lodge #372 and a former fire chief with Hilltop Fire Department.
Mr. Maxwell is survived by two daughters, Gail M Tate and her husband Wayne of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, Brenda M Settle, of Inman, South Carolina; a son, Richard Lee Maxwell and his wife Cathy, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Willie Maxwell and an infant brother, C. T. Maxwell.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Seawright Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, with Rev. David Tate and Rev. Glen Rusher officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Honorary escorts will be members of American Legion Post #45 and Hilltop Fire Department.
Memorials may be made to the "Young At Hearts" Club at Bethany Baptist Church, 622 Alamo Street, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29303.
