Guynell Newman Shields, 81, of 140 Shields Dr. passed away Sunday, October 13th, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Newman was born in Polk County, NC on July 3, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Floyd and Gladys Blackwell Newman and was the widow of Huey Shields. She was a member of the New Life Baptist Fellowship and had retired from S & S Manufacturing.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruby Thomas, Patricia Pennington, Melissa Williams, one son, Graylon Shields, a sister, Joyce Miller , 8 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at New Life Baptist Fellowship, 350 Old Furnace Rd. conducted by Revs. Bill Harris and Joe White. The family will receive friends Tuesday, one hour before the service in the sanctuary. Interment will be private in Sunset Memorial Park, Spartanburg, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either: New Life Baptist Fellowship, PO Box 1539, Boiling Springs, SC 29316 or to Stable Life Worship Center, Blackstock Rd., Inman, SC 29349.
