Grady Rhinehart 88, of Inman, SC, peacefully passed away from natural causes at Spartanburg Regional Hospital System. Born in Inman, SC, he was the fifth son to the late Hobert and Marie (Epton) Rhinehart and the widower of Sandra (Powell) Rhinehart. He attended Inman Elementary and graduated from Inman High School. While in High School, he was a multi-sport athlete and All-County selection in football. He often spoke of the fond memories and privilege of being able to play alongside his brother and decorated athlete, Don. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served duty as a Hospital Corpman. Upon completion of his enlistment, he returned to Spartanburg and attended Cecil’s Business School and earned a degree in Business.Grady found success as an insurance specialist with Life of Georgia and retired after many years with the company. Aside from his work, he was a proud member of Inman First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and choir member. He also enjoyed participating in his Sunday school “Goodwill” class. He spent much of his adult life active in the Masonic Lodge, Inman Lodge #201, where he served in numerous lodge positions and earned his Master Mason degree, eventually serving as Lodge Master. His dedicated service as a Mason earned him appointment as Worthy Grand Patron for the South Carolina Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 2012-13 session. His time spent in the church and Masons brought him much joy and he loved them both dearly.

He is survived by four daughters, Kathy Rhinehart of Greenwood, S.C., Pamela Baldwin of Waterloo, S.C., Heidi Echterling and her husband Brad of Charlotte, N.C., and Lynne Greene of Inman, S.C; two sons, Grady “Lee” Rhinehart, Jr. and his wife Alisa of Augusta, GA and Rusty Rhinehart and his wife Kateri of Campobello, S.C. along with 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded by one daughter, Dana Rhinehart, one sister (Betty) and four brothers (Boyd, Ralph, George and Don.)

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 1:00 – 1:45 PM at the Inman First Baptist Church atrium. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Dr. Paul Moore officiating. Mausoleum entombment will be at Good Shepherd Memorial Park in Boiling Springs, SC. Masonic and Eastern Star Rites will be administered at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Spartanburg County Foundation and designated for Inman Lodge #201.
