Germaine Marvin "Oley" Olsen, 80, of 16 Annandale Dr. Boiling Springs, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg, SC.
"Oley" was born in Royal Oak Township in Michigan on July 25, 1932, a son of the late Carl Arnt and Helga Catherine Nelson Olsen. He was the widower of Amy Lanette (Hill) Olsen and had retired from the Carmet Company in Michigan after 33 yrs. of service. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Spartanburg, SC There he served as an usher and was on the property committee of the church.
He is survived by a daughter, Cherie L. Kitchens and her husband Chris of Wellford, SC, a son, Kirk M. Olsen and his wife Cathy of Spartanburg, three grandchildren, Jessica Kitchens, and Victoria & Patrick Olsen. He was predeceased by four brothers.
The family wants to express their sincere thanks & appreciation for the wonderful and caring people at the Regional Hospice Home.
A "Celebration of Life" memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 9, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Spartanburg, SC conducted by Senior Pastor Mike Shackelford. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall Thursday one hour before the service.
