Campobello, SC---Mr. Gerald Eugene Raines, 64, of 375 Campobello-Gramling School Road, passed away Friday, March 27th, 2009 at MD. Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center, TX.

Born in Spartanburg County on September 18, 1944 he was the son of the late Barney Buford and Myrtle (Bishop) Raines and husband of Mrs. Merita Williams Raines.

He was a member of Holston Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Spartanburg County School District 6.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Beth R. Ross and her husband John A. of Campobello; one son, Joel B. Raines and his wife Marty A. of Inman; three grandchildren, Kelly Ross, Hayden Raines and Molly Raines; one sister, Sandra Brannon and her husband Thomas of Columbia, SC; four brothers, Randall Raines and his wife Lynn of Inman, Ted Raines and his wife Jackie of Campobello, Edward Raines and his wife Judy of Duncan and Dean Raines and his wife Donna of Columbia, SC and 19 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Holston Creek Baptist Church, Inman, SC, at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1st, with Rev. Reggie Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service in the Family Life Center at Holston Creek Baptist Church.
