Gerald W Hawkins

April 12, 1935 — February 29, 2012

Campobello, SC---Gerald W. Hawkins, 76, of 16254 Asheville Highway went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 29th, 2012. Born in Spartanburg County on April 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Esley Marion and Ethel Alize (Turner) Hawkins and was the loving husband of Mae (Greenway) Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins served two tours in the United States Army as a Cryptograph Operator and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Campobello. He retired from the railroad where he worked as a Cryptograph Operator and also worked as a State Inspector.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gerald Zane Hawkins and James Douglas Patterson; one daughter, Donna Fitch; three sisters, Flora A. Culbreth, Barbara H. Peck and Annie Laura West; seven grandchildren, Jordan Hawkins, Olivia Hawkins, Abby Hawkins, Ethan Hawkins, Sydney Fitch, Jacob Fitch and Hunter Frederick along with many nieces and nephews and his best friend, Mike Goldsmith. He was predeceased by one brother, David O. Hawkins and one son, Shannon W. Hawkins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Campobello at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 3rd, with Rev. Michael Bragg officiating.
