Gerald Milton Chastain, 74, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at his home. A native of Greenville County, Gerald was born on February 27, 1943, a son of the late Fred and Winfred Gambrell Chastain. He was the husband of Gayle Davis Chastain having celebrated 47 years of marriage. Mr. Chastain was an United States Army veteran and was stationed in Fulda, Germany. He attended Anderson College, was a retired employee of Griffin Gear in Roebuck, South Carolina, a mason , a member of the N.R.A. and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Gerald is survived by two daughters, Donna Chastain, of Spartanburg; Rhonda Beers and husband Neil F. Beers, III, of Moore; a sister, Dottie Hendrix and husband Devoe, of Pelzer, a brother, Bobby Chastain and wife Gloria, of Williamston; 2 grandsons, Spencer Chastain and Braxton Woody, both of Spartanburg. The family is at the home and will receive friends Wednesday, December 6, 2017, from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Seawright Funeral Chapel, Inman, South Carolina, at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, conducted by Rev Bobby Chastain and Rev Monty King. Burial with military honors will follow in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens in Wellford. The following will serve as pallbearers: Spencer Chastain, Dennis Woody, Neil F. Beers III, Michael Arledge, Gavin Waters and Randy Stewart. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 842 Mt. Zion Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
