George Steven "Steve" Green

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Steven "Steve" Green, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and dedicated law enforcement officer.

Steve proudly served his country through the South Carolina Army National Guard and United States Army Reserves, carrying that same sense of duty, honor, and commitment into his years of service to his community.

Steve dedicated many years of his life to serving and protecting others through the Inman Police Department and the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, where he proudly served as a Master Deputy Sheriff. He was a respected member of the K-9 Unit and the Dive Team, where his courage, dedication, and willingness to answer the call were evident in every situation. Steve was also the former owner of Inman Paving.

For Steve, service was more than a career - it was a calling. Whether serving his country or protecting his community, he gave of himself with courage, loyalty, and dedication. His fellow officers knew him as someone they could trust and depend on, and his service left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to work beside him.

Away from his career, Steve was a man who cherished his family, his animals, and the simple things that made life meaningful.

Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara McCarter Green; his parents, George Willie and Loveinia Tate Green; and his children, Denna Green, Shell Green and Leon Watson. He leaves behind his children, Debbie Parrish (Kenny), Rita Cooke (Scott), Duane Green (Sandra), and Jessica Blackwell; 11 grandchildren; his brothers, Garland Green, Gene Green, and David Green; his sister, Roxanne Green; and many extended family members and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Steve also leaves behind his beloved fur baby and best friend, Belle, and his cherished horse, Rebel, who brought him companionship and joy throughout his life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Sharon Barton, Steve's caregiver and dear friend, for the love, and the lasting connections he made with his family, friends and community. May those who knew and loved him find comfort in the memories they shared with him and in the enduring legacy of kindness, courage, and dedication he leaves behind.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 4, 2026 at 11:00 AM at New Bethel Baptist Church in Forest City, North Carolina with Dr. Reggie Parker officiating.
