Mr. George M. Bobo, 90, of 502 E. Sago Ct. passed away Saturday, July 19th, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Bobo was born in the Holly Springs Community on April 14, 1924, and was the son of the late Avie Elizabeth (Vaughn) and Jessie Murph Bobo. He was the widower of the late Nelle (Gossett) Bobo and had celebrated over 66 yrs of marriage.
He was a dedicated member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, the G.A Rogers Sunday School Class and had served as a former Head of Deacons and other offices. He was an avid golfer, a member of the Whitney Masonic Lodge # 264 was the owner/operator of Bobo Office Supply in Spartanburg, SC. Mr. Bobo proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II in the Pacific on the USS Hornet CV-12 & the USS Troilus. Mr. Bobo also had a great love for Bluegrass Music
Survivors include a son, Gary Bobo and his wife Joyce-Benton Bobo of Buffalo, SC, two daughters, Maggie Bobo and Phyllis Bobo both of Boiling Springs, SC. There are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM in the fellowship hall of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow in the church sanctuary at 3:00 PM with Rev. Danny Garrett officiating. The G. A. Rogers Sunday School Class are to serve as Honor Escort. Interment will be in the Boiling Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
