Doris GeaDelia Wolfe Temple, 91, of Columbus, NC died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Tryon Estates. The family will receive friends 5:30 until 7:30 Thursday evening at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Friday, October 28 at Seawright Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Phillip M. Hurst. A committal service will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman with Eastern Star Rites conducted by The Green River Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
A native of Inman, she lived in Charlotte, NC for 20 years after graduating from Winthrop College. This was followed by a brief time in Santa Monica, Calif. and Edgewater, FL. She then lived 15 years in St. Louis, MO. She retired in St. Louis from McDonnell Douglas Corporation after serving 30 years with them in the Information Systems Development and Management in the Data Processing field. She retired to Cullowhee, NC in 1987 and moved to Tryon Estates in 2004. While working in St. Louis, she was a member of the McDonnell Douglas Management Club and Data Processing Organization.
She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star; a Past Matron of the Mizpah Chapter #515 in St. Louis, a Past Matron of the East La Porte Chapter #206 in Cullowhee and joined the Green River Chapter #375 in Tryon, NC in 2004; and an active member of Jackson County Chapter #2189 AARP, serving as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer; Homemakers Association, a member of the Caney Fork Club, serving as President for several years; and Jackson County Golden Age Club. She was a member of Tryon United Methodist Church and formerly a member of Cullowhee United Methodist Church where she served as Secretary of the Administrative Council, chairperson of Race and Religion, a member of the Finance Committee, President of the Board of Directors of Jackson Village, a member of United Methodist Women, served as Treasurer and other positions on the Waynesville District Team of United Methodist Women.
She is survived by two sons; Glenn Allen Temple of Asheville, NC, Larry Everette Temple of Selvastopol, CA, one daughter; Wanda Lynn Stephens of Cullowhee, NC, and a brother; George Albert Wolfe of Inman. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters; Roy Whitney Wolfe, Marshall Wade Wolfe, Robert Harold Wolfe, Willie Elizabeth Wolfe George, Frances Louise Wolfe Brian.
