Gary "Buds" R. Banks, 59 of Governor View Road, Asheville, NC went to be with our Lord Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Born in Asheville to the late Patrick E. Banks and Nancy Sercey Banks of Chesnee, S.C. He was a Baptist, an avid NASCAR fan, and his passion was for animals. He was a US Army veteran of the Viet Nam War and was a carpenter.
Survivors include a daughter, Sabrina B. Westbrook of Spartanburg, sisters, Gail B. Robinson of Ridge Manor. Fl, Sandra B. Drake and Patricia B. Elder of Chesnee, two aunts, Zertha Dillingham and Gladys Ray of Asheville, one uncle, Buster Sercey of Asheville, three grandchildren, Ryan, Nick, and Alli Westbrook of Spartanburg, three nephews, two nieces, three great nieces, four great nephews, and his best buddy "Sam".
A memorial service will be held at Seawright Funeral Home Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 6:00pm conducted by Rev. Perrin Powell. The family will be at the home of his sister, Sandra Drake at 430 Wall Circle, Chesnee and will receive friends 5-6:00pm Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to your local Humane Society.
