Fred Washington Geddes, Jr.
Mr. Fred Washington Geddes, Jr., 79, of 1210 Rock Hill Church Rd, Inman passed away Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, after a long illness.
Mr. Geddes was born in Fingerville, SC on March 15, 1930, the son of the late Fred Washington, Sr. and Hattie (Lindsey) Geddes and was the husband of Myrtle Elizabeth (Suddeth) Geddes of 57 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 daughters: Susie Johnson (Bruce), Kathy Hyatt, 1 son: Joe Geddes (Joy) all of Inman, 8 grandchildren: Jeremy Johnson (Ashley), Josh Johnson (Becky), Brian Geddes (Libby), Chrystal Dorrell (Will), Chris Suddeth (Lori), Shane Suddeth (Meagan), Amanda Shafer, Matthew Shafer (Daisy) and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter: Sandra Shafer.
He was employed as a carman at Southern Railway, a member of Dependent Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Tuesday 12:30 - 2:00 PM at Dependent Baptist Church, Inman, SC.
Funeral services will be held at Dependent Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 5th,
with Rev. Bruce Johnson and Rev. Joe Geddes officiating. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dependent Christian School, PO Box 934, Inman, SC 29349.
