Mr. Foster Ambrose "F.A." Atkins, 77, of 3710 Hwy 357, Inman passed away Saturday, March 14th, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Atkins was born in the Motlow Creek Community, SC on July 5, 1931, the son of the late Alonzo and Sarah (Watkins) Atkins.
He was the husband of Betty Ruth Rhinehart Davis Atkins and was first married to the late Evelyn Solesbee. In addition to his wife he is survived by 1 daughter: Karon Blackwell and husband Buddy of Valley Falls, 3 sons: Steve Atkins and wife Leigh of Lyman, Tony Atkins and wife Cathy of Lyman, Keith Atkins of Spartanburg, 2 sisters: Willowdean Suddeth of Campobello, Gail Mills of Greer, 1 brother: Gordon Watkins of Campobello, 2 step-sons: Ben Davis and wife Katy of Campobello, Jeff Davis and wife Mary of Pendleton, SC, 7 grandchildren, Mitch Atkins, Christi Poole, Jodi Cantrell, Tim Atkins, Rena Graham, Chris Blackwell, Jennifer Sullivan, 3 step-grandchildren: Andrew, Mika, Laura Davis and 9 great, grandchildren.
He was owner/operator of Atkins Floor Sanding. Mr. Atkins took a lot of pride in his work and made many friends thru his work. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church and the Lyman Masonic Lodge.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Monday 1:30 -3:00 PM at Holly Springs Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at Holly Springs Baptist Church, Inman, SC, at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 16th, with Dr. Tim Clark and Rev Henry Stanford officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Ravan, Preston Skinner, Shane Vanhoose, Gregg Cantrell, Curtis Poole, and David Sullivan.
Burial will be in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Suite 101 Spartanburg, SC 29301. .
