Everette Leon Tipton, 63, of 122 Forest Dr. passed away Thursday, April 5th, at his residence. Mr. Tipton was born in Spartanburg, SC on May 10, 1948, a son of Horace Everette Tipton, of Spartanburg and the late Marie (Hammett) Tipton. He was the husband of Shirley (Goings) Tipton and was a retired truck driver at C & C Trucking. He served in the U.S. Marines in the Vietnam War and received a Navy Commendation Medal for Heroic Achievement from the Dept. of the Navy. He was of the baptist faith.
He is survived by three sons, Everette Leon Tipton, Jr. of Clifton, SC, John Tipton of Spartanburg, Jimmy Tipton and his wife Claudette of Cowpens, SC, a daughter, Katie Owensby and her husband Sack of Cowpens, SC, two brothers, Wayne Tipton and his wife Millie, Billy Tipton and his wife Jean and a sister, Susan Kirby all of Spartanburg. There are nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a deceased grandchild, Jason Michael Owensby.
Funeral services will be held at Inman First Freewill Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 9th, with Rev Carrol Caldwell and Mr Charlie Tapp officiating. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary one hour before the service. Honorary Escort will be co-workers from C & C Trucking. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Leon Tipton, Jr., John Tipton, Jimmy Tipton, Sack Owensby, Wesley Hall and Josh Tipton. The family is at the home.
