Inman, SC--- Etrulia Vickery, 87, of 20 "C" Street passed away Saturday, July 6th, at White Oak Manor. Etrulia Naomia Hipp was born at Inman Mills, SC on September 12, 1925 the daughter of the late Calvin Theodore Hipp and Christine McHam Hipp. She was educated in the public schools at Inman and worked at Southern Wood Piedmont and Converse College. Etrulia was married to Doyle William Vickery on June 3, 1950. He attended New Orleans Baptist Seminary after they were married and then served as a pastor until his death on February 10, 1963. Etrulia lived most of her life at 20 C Street at Inman Mills in the house that her grandfather, Reese S McHam, and later her parents lived in. She is survived by a host of cousins in both the Hipp and McHam family. These include double cousins, Virl Vassey of Chesnee, Dot Burnett of Saluda, NC, and Bill Hipp of Spartanburg. Cousins in the McHam family are Sandra McCloskey of Wichita, Kansas, Ruth McHam of Spartanburg, David McHam of Houston, Texas, Nancy Dellinger of Gastonia, NC, Jean McElvey of Panama City, Florida, Keith Robbins of Newnan, Georgia, Ronald Fennell of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and Gary McHam of Spartanburg. She also leaves a large circle of friends including Hazel Hames of Inman, Ellen Lassiter of Spartanburg, Laura and Franklin Case of Duncan and Lynn Raines of Inman. She was a member of First Baptist Church North Spartanburg and was grateful for so many supporters from among the staff and membership. She was appreciative of the help and support of Robby Dismukes. Funeral services will be held at the Seawright Funeral Chapel Monday, July 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev Robby Dismukes. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 110 Dillon Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
