Ethel Ravan Strange, 92, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at The Inverness at Spartanburg after a long battle with dementia.
Born in Campobello, South Carolina on March 4, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Jimmy B. and Nannie Sue Raines Ravan. She was the wife of the late Jay Brooks Strange for 43 years.
Mrs. Strange was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where she attended the Dorcas Sunday School Class and also participated in the Young at Heart ministry. She proudly retired from Springs Industries in 1991 where she worked as a seamstress for 38 years.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Gail Skinner (Roger) and Jayne Williamson (Ron); one brother Gene Ravan (Frankie); one sister Peggy Campbell; three grandchildren, Elaine Caraway (Kyle), Ginger Gosnell (Tony), and Brent Skinner (Karla); four great-grandchildren, Morgan Caraway, Liam Caraway, Abby Gosnell, and Ally Gosnell; special nephew Mike Ravan (Ann); special nieces Gina Gasparini (Scott) and Margaret Bailey (Chris); special friends Louise Ballenger, Gene Moss, and Katherine Gosnell.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son and daughter-in-law Danny and Barbara Wright, as well as five siblings, Pearl Clayton, Bertha Blackwell, Geneva Blackwell, Billy Ravan, and James Ravan.
Receiving of friends will be on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:00am at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the Seawright Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Mike Ravan officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff of the memory care unit of the Inverness at Spartanburg and Agape Hospice for all of their care and support for Mrs. Strange.
