Ernestine "Teany" Varner
Mrs. Ernestine "Teany" (Brown) White Varner, 78, of 118 Chapman Rd. passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 17th, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Varner was born in Spartanburg on November 4, 1929, the daughter of the late Ernest and Bertha (Genobles) Brown and the stepdaughter of the late Nannie (McBride) Brown. She was wife of John Taylor Varner, Jr. and was first married to the late John Earl White.
She was a member of the Pacolet First Baptist Church, the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and had retired from textiles after 54 years of service. More recently she was employed at the Spartan Mills Rosemont Plant.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Cathy White of Pacolet, Jean George and her husband Ronnie of Inman, Carole Morris and her husband Terry of Pacolet, one step daughter, Linda Pickel and her husband Bill of Greenville, SC , a step son, John Taylor Varner, III. and his wife Pat also of Greenville, SC, three grandchildren Lance Morris and his wife Kelly, Todd George and Amanda George, step grandchildren, Michael Trammell and his wife Janna, Beth Broadwell and her husband Charles, great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Grant Morris, step great grandchildren, Elizabeth Kelly Trammell , David Trammell, and Ellie Broadwell. Also surviving is a brother, Harold Brown of Inman and two sisters, Geraldine "Jerry" Spencer and Sherlon Wilkins both of Pacolet. Mrs. Varner was predeceased by a brother, Fulton Brown and a sister, Ruth Fowler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, 2008 at 4:00 P. M. at Pacolet First Baptist Church with Revs. Tommy Sparks and Joel Gardner conducting the services. The family is at her home and will receive friends immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens.
