Ernest Eugene "Tub" Owens, 66, of 529 Lois Way Boiling Springs passed away Tuesday, October 16th, at Regional Hospice Home.
He was born in the Fairmont Community on January 14, 1946, a son of the late Ila Johnson Huskey and the late William Owens and was the husband of Patricia Bennett Owens, to whom he was married forty years. He worked as a house painter and cleaning services and was a active member of Covenant Baptist Church. He was a very profound christian and served the Lord with pride and dignity; as well as witnessing and sharing of God's words with many. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Cindy Elder of Chesnee, Jeff Elder and wife Pam of Inman, Jerry Lewis Owens and wife Maria of Chesnee, Jerry Sneed Jr., and wife Scarlet of Laurens, brothers, Cecil Strickland of Duncan, Eddie Owens of North Carolina, a sister, Ann McCarson of Fairforest, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 9 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, William Owens, and a sister, Elizabeth "Lib" Owens.
Funeral services will be held at Covenant Baptist Church at 2:00PM on Thursday, October 18th, with Rev. Gary Hensley and Rev. Darel Finch and Rev. Donnan Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. The family is at the home and will receive friends 1-2:00 Thursday at the church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Regional Hospice Home 686 Jeff Davis Drive Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to the family in his memory to help with expenses.
