Elizabeth Fowler, 80, of 200 Fortress Drive Inman passed away Thursday, April 3rd, 2014. She had lived at Rosecrest Assisted Living the past two and a half years and appreciated all of the staff and friends she had there.
Libby was born in Gramling, SC on August 9, 1933, a daughter of the late Nannie Mae Barnette Evington and Jamie Thomas Evington. She was the wife of Joseph Luther Fowler with 59 years of marriage.
She was the Salutatorian of her high school class and finished Spartanburg General Hospital School of X-Ray Technicians and received her ARRT Registration in 1954. She served as the assistant chief technologist before her retirement from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She was a faithful member of Gramling United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Ann Fryga Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Upstate Diagnostic Images Chapter of South Carolina and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. She served on the Quality Academic Advisory Committee at Spartanburg Technical College for 22 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved nieces, Linda E. Hamrick (Grant) and Laura Ann Miller (Jeff); and nephews; Freddie Evington (Jennifer), Jeff Evington (Angela), and Roger Ezell (Myria). She was predeceased by her brothers; James Earl Evington (Joyce), William Larry Evington (Ruth), and Bobby Gene Evington.
Funeral services will be held at Gramling United Methodist Church at 1:30 PM on Saturday, April 5th, conducted by Rev. Martin Atkins and Rev. Brad Atkins.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are; Freddie Evington, Jeff Evington, Jeff Miller, Tyler Miller, Farrell Campbell, and Benny Waldrop. Honorary escorts will friends and staff from Rosecrest Retirement Community. The family is at 506 Windridge Circle and will receive friends Saturday following services in the Social Hall of Gramling United Methodist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Gramling United Methodist Church.
