Mrs. Elizabeth "Lib" Myers Culbreth, 94, of 1705 Skylyn Drive died Sunday, October 2nd, 2011. Mrs. Culbreth was born in Oakway, S.C. on January 30, 1917, the daughter of the late Carl E and Mary Lou Rogers Myers.
She was married to Hugh Burns Culbreth for 63 years before he died in 2006. She graduated from Winthrop College in 1938. Lib was a retired teacher of 32 years teaching basically Home Economics and sponsoring the FHA at Chapman High School. She served Inman First Baptist Church in a teaching or directing position for 50 years including the nursery, Fidelis Matrons, and WMU. When her children were young she also taught in BTU and VBS. Among other activities in her lifetime she was a member of the garden club, Hoe and Hope, and a cub scout Den Mother. Besides her yard work she enjoyed golf. Surviving her are three children, Roger Burns Culbreth (Janice), Barbara C. Pruitt (Wilbur), and Hugh Crayton Culbreth (Karen), eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 11:30 am at Seawright Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Paul Moore and Dr. Terry Farmer. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family is at 3631 New Cut Road, Inman and will receive friends Wednesday 10:00 until 11:15 am at Seawright Funeral Home.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the excellent and wonderful staff at Skylyn Place. This includes the outstanding caregivers over the years and especially to Lucille Evans who also was a dear friend.
