Elizabeth Owens Cody

Elizabeth Bertha Owens Cody, 90, went to her Dear Heavenly Father Tuesday, May 6, 2008. She was the widow of Henry V. Cody and the daughter of the late William A. and Hester Collins Owens. Mrs. Cody was a faithful member and church worker at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was an active community missionary. She had retired from textiles after being employed at Mayfair Mills for 35 years.

Survivors include two sons, Dewey and James Cody of Florida, a daughter, Mary C. Fusco , three brothers, Frank, Lee and Claude Owens and two sisters, Viola Lee and Mildred Ruff all of Spartanburg. There are 22 Grandchildren, 26 Great-grandchildren and 6 Great- Great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sons, Morris V. Cody, Harold D. Cody and George R. Cody, two brothers, Whit and John Owens and a sister, Catherine Cody.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 10:00 A. M. in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman, S. C. conducted by Rev. Monty King. A visitation will be held after the graveside services at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 842 Mt. Zion Rd., Spartanburg, S. C. 29303 or to Mobile Meals, P. O. Box 461, Spartanburg, S. C. 29304.
The family is at their respective homes.
