Edward Raymond Viehman

Edward Raymond Viehman, 97, of 309 Bill Pearson Rd. passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg, SC. Mr. Viehman was born in the borough of Brentwood near Pittsburgh, Pa. on February 1, 1922. He was the son of the late Edward Albert and Freda Ziegler Viehman and the husband of Cynthia (Harrington) Viehman. He was first married to the late Mabel Johnson Viehman.
Mr Viehman was a faithful member of the Skylyn Drive Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg and a former member of the Hejaz and Oasis Shrine Temples and the Shriner's choral group called the "Chanters". Mr. Viehman worked for 27 years in textiles in NC and SC, including Burlington Mills and 14 years as quality control manager with Batchelder-Blasius in Spartanburg, SC. He proudly served his country in the US Army as a Staff Sgt. in World War II in the Pacific Theater at Headquarters Company, 1st Infantry.
Surviving in addition to his wife Cynthia are two sons: Albert Byron Viehman (Kathy) of Loveland, Colorado, Bruce Johnson Viehman (Jodi) of Inman, SC, two grandsons: Edward Vernon Viehman of Charleston, SC, Sean Eric Viehman (Charity Hewlett) of Travis AFB, California, great-grandchild, Nova Rose Viehman and a sister, Roberta Viehman Munson of West Grove. Pa. He was predeceased by a sister, Louise Viehman Moulton, a brother, Harold H. Viehman and a beloved son, John Raymond Viehman.
His step-children include two sons Carl Eric Harrington of Woodruff, SC, John Lester Harrington (Susan Hipps) of Woodruff, SC, two daughters, Susan Ann Davis of Woodruff, SC, Mary Beth Harrington Bennett (Alvin) also of Woodruff, SC, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 11, 2019 from 2:00 to 2:50 PM at Seawright Funeral Home with funeral services following at 3:00 PM in the Seawright Funeral Chapel conducted Rev. Peter Waid. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Skylyn Drive Presbyterian Church, 1801 Skylyn Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
