Edward Bruce Canaday, 74, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House. He was the son of the late Walter Edward Canaday and Annie Louise Lynch Canaday of Inman. He is survived by a brother, John Donald Canaday and his wife, Nancy, of West Columbia, a sister, Martha Canaday Edwards of Spartanburg, a niece, Jenny Lea Edwards of Lyman, two nephews, William Ryon Edwards Jr, and wife, Page, of Lexington, and Kenneth Bruce Edwards and wife Carla, of Columbia, William Ryon Edwards Sr, and seven great nieces and nephews who affectionately called him "Great Bruce," and friend Hugh Hursey. Mr. Canaday was a graduate of Chapman High School, Wofford College, and earned an MBA from Gardner-Webb University. He was a longtime employee of Spartan Mills' corporate office, served in the United States Army National Guard and was a member of Inman First Baptist Church. Mr. Canaday's appreciation of fine and exotic woods was evidenced by his woodworking skills. He often gifted family and friends with his handcrafted items. He also enjoyed hiking and camping.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Seawright Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM with Dr Jeremiah Childers officiating. Burial will be in Inman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to:
