Edna Chastain

Edna Martin Chastain, 94, passed away November 17, 2007 at Rosecrest Retirement Community in Inman following several years of declining health.

A native of Calhoun Falls, SC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Martin and Fleda Clark Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Melvin Chastain; three sisters, Alpha Martin, Ruth Mann, Neva Martin; and one brother, Jack Martin.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy West and her husband Malvern of Hendersonville, NC , two grandchildren, Robert West and his wife Laura of Starkville, MS., Nancy Jones and her husband Tom of Hendersonville, NC; three great-grandchildren, Mollie Jones, Thomas Jones, and Lena West. She is also survived by a first cousin, Barbara Grant of Greenville, SC.
She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and at her death was a
member of Inman United Methodist Church. She was a life member of the United Methodist Women and a past president of the Spartanburg District of United Methodist Women. She was a past member of The Woman's Club of Inman, serving as president from 1975 - 1977.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to the following physicians and their staffs: Dr. David Berry, Dr. Terry Johnson, and Dr. Asim Pati. A special appreciation is expressed to the very caring staff at Rosecrest Retirement Community and to Lutheran Hospice.

Services will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 11:00 A. M. at Seawright Funeral Home Chapel in Inman. The officiating ministers will be Rev. Ron Leonard and Rev. Deborah Steed. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman. Families are at their respective homes.
