Edna Mae (Owens) Benfield, 87, of 1107 Mason Rd. passed away Tuesday, February 12th, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Benfield was born in Inman, S.C. on April 20, 1925, a daughter of the late James Richard and Tiny Ellen (Ravan) Owens and was the widow of Oliver Clinton Benfield.
She was a member of Lake Cooley Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Dean Benfield and his wife Faye, Rev. Jimmy Benfield and his wife Louise all of Inman, two daughters, Doris Center and her husband Douglas of Landrum, SC, Ellen Atkins and her husband Gary of Inman, a brother, Preston Owens of Spartanburg, four sisters, Inez Guffey of Inman, Lillian Keller of Spartanburg, Dot Cox of Inman and Emmer Lee Gilliland of Spartanburg. There are 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Benfield was predeceased by a sister, Anna Lou Varner.
The family will receive friends Thursday February 14, 2013 6-8PM at Seawright Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at Lake Cooley Baptist Church at 2:00PM on Friday, February 15th, with Rev. Mark Cannon and Rev. Joe White officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family is at their respective homes.
