Edith McMillin Westbrook Strong, 98, of Inman, SC, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum. Edith was born in New Prospect, SC on March 26, 1915, a daughter of the late Sallie (Carson) and Jesse C McMillin.She was the widow of John Edgar Strong and was first married to the late Eugene Westbrook for 48 years. She was a homemaker a member of Inman First Baptist Church for 30 years where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and was a former member for 68 years of New Prospect Baptist Church where she taught the 3 year old Sunday School Class for 40 years. Edith is survived by a daughter, Annette Westbrook Johnson(Jimmy) of New Prospect, a son, Billy Gene Westbrook(Josephine) of Jacksonville, FL, 3 grandchildren, Vickie Johnson Pace(Dennis) of Gowensville, Cary Johnson(Loretta) of New Prospect, Jay Westbrook(Cynthia) of Jacksonville, FL, 2 great grandchildren, Kala Johnson of New Prospect and Jeremy Westbrook of Jacksonville, FL., a sister, Sara McMillin Trout of Inman, 2 brothers, Joe McMillin of Inman, Ellis McMillin of New Prospect. She was predeceased by 3 sisters, Peggy Trout, Catherine Settle, Margaret Wingo, 2 brothers, Paul and William McMillin. A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356. The family would like to extend a thank you to 2 special friends, Brenda Hall and April Benton and the staff of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Burial will be in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Vickie Pace, 316 Laurens Road, Landrum, SC.
