Dwight Condrey Fortune

Dwight Condrey Fortune, 84, of 637 Nature Walkway, passed away Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Mr. Fortune was born in Ellenboro, NC on June 23, 1931, and was a son of the late Raleigh Washington and Minnie Ethel Grigg Fortune. He was the husband of Doris (Allen) Fortune and was a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Fortune was a retired machinist with Hersey Meter and Hoke Company and also repaired office equipment. From 1956 to 1958 he served with the US Army.
Surviving in addition to his wife Doris is a daughter, Kim Fortune Garrett and her husband Rev. Danny Garrett of Spartanburg, SC, three grandchildren, Ashley Garrett Cloonan (Ryan), Courtney Garrett Glover (Brent), Houston Allen Garrett and two great-grandchildren, Aly Grace Cloonan and Eli Glover. Mr Fortune was predeceased by five brothers, Wade, Joe, Charles, Gay and D.B Fortune and two sisters, Constance Westbrook and Marjorie Oates. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Seawright Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral chapel conducted by Rev. Danny Garrett and Rev. Doug Allen. Special music will be provided by Buddy Richards. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 28 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
