Dr. Terry S. McMillian

Dr. McMillian, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 27, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1939, in Lynn, North Carolina, to the late William S. and Edith Lynch McMillian. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy M. Robinson.

Having a love for flying, he served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve for eight years. After accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1963, the Lord led him to attend Tennessee Temple College. While attending college he obtained his private pilot’s license and felt the Lord was leading him to be a missionary pilot. After graduating from college in 1969, he attended Piedmont Aviation Mechanic School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he learned to work on small engine airplanes. While in Winston-Salem, he attended Kerwin Baptist Church in Kernersville, North Carolina and while there, he was ordained as a Minister. From 1973 to 1985 Dr. McMillian faithfully served as a missionary/missionary pilot in the Country of Niger (Agadez), on the island of Tobago and the island of St. Croix. In 1985 he was called to be the pastor at Harvest Baptist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina where he served for 38 years. He loved every moment of pastoring and preaching the Gospel.

Dr. McMillian is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Virginia “Ann” McMillian, his daughter, Laurie Lipscomb (Todd) and his sister, Mary Breedlove (Bill). He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Ryan Moore (Kayla), Amber Lipscomb and Brandon Lipscomb (Joy). He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Lexy Ortiz, Skylar Ortiz, Eli Lipscomb, Lylli Moore, Brayden Moore, and Liberty Moore, as well as nieces, great-nieces, and a great nephew.
