James Douglas "Doug" Morgan, 67, of Spartanburg passed away peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, June 17th, at his residence.
Doug was born in Spartanburg on January 8, 1954, a son of the late Martha Lawing Morgan and James Ray Morgan. Always a Carolina fan, Doug earned his Bachelor's and Master's plus 30 degrees from The University of South Carolina.
He retired, after almost 40 years of service, teaching at Fairforest Middle School in Spartanburg County School District Six.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg, owned an antique business, Country Collectibles, and touched numbers of lives during his life of business, teaching, and personal friendships.
Doug is survived by a brother, Steve Morgan and his wife Martha of Travelers Rest, SC, a sister, Jeanie Morgan Trively and her husband Tom of Clemson, a brother, Rory Morgan and his wife Kim of Greenville, a sister, Torrie Morgan Eubanks and her husband Jeff of Spartanburg, several cousins; and beloved uncle of one niece and seven nephews.
Visitation will be held 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday, June 21st at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 PM on Monday, June 21st at Seawright Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeff Eubanks officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
In addition to flowers, memorial may also be made to Spartanburg Humane Society 150 Dexter Rd. Spartanburg, SC 29303 or Spartanburg Soup Kitchen 136 S. Forest Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
