Dot Plumley

Dorothy “Dot” Elizabeth Green Plumley, 79, passed away on Aug 15, 2023 after a brief illness at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.  Dot was born in Tryon, NC on June 12, 1944 to Lionel “Bud” Green and Pearl Moss Alewine.

She was married to her husband Sid for 63 years and was always a selfless caregiver to him.  She always said they raised each other. She was affectionately known as “Tubby” to him and he was her “Boog”-but she was known to her family as Mama and Mimi.

Dot and Sid have three children, Curtis Plumley(Jill) , Cindy Gramling (Marion), and Crystal McSwain (Ritchie). They were blessed with five grandchildren:  Justin Plumley (Amber), Jared Birdno (Lauren), Marion Rhett Gramling (Kana), Caitlin Plumley Roddy (Austin), and Troy Gramling.

Dot had eight great grandchildren: Tenley Birdno, Jones Plumley, Olivia Birdno, Harper Gramling, Sutherlyn Roddy, Halle Birdno, Kirsch Plumley, and Addyson Gramling.

Dot worked at Bigelow Sanford for many years. After she retired, she became quite a talented artist and craftsperson creating country crafts, special beaded Christmas ornaments, and adoptable dolls. She had a green thumb and loved working in her yard with her beautiful flowers.

Dot loved the Lord and could be counted on as a fierce prayer warrior. Even through all of her own illnesses and trials, her faith never wavered. She was known for loving her family, friends, and her Facebook friends.

The family will receive friends at Seawright Funeral Home on Saturday, August 19 from 10:00-10:45 AM. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Seawright Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Lynn Stewart. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery immediately after the celebration of life service.

Flowers are appreciated in honor of her love of gardening, or memorials may be made to Mobile Meals of Spartanburg at 419 East Main St. Spartanburg, SC 29302.
