Dorothy "Dot" Parris Oliver, 73, of 605 Green Hill Road Spartanburg, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Dot was born in Spartanburg on May 4, 1941, a daughter of the late Mary Grace Henderson Parris and Joseph Riley Parris and was the wife of Lawrence Doyle Oliver of the home. She retired from Spartan Central Lab after 42 years of service and was a member of Evangel Cathedral in Spartanburg.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Lynn Hinson (Fabio) of Italy, Steven Oliver (Mandy) of Campobello,SC, Amy Leonard (Jimmy) of Boiling Springs; a brother: John W. Parris of Columbia; two sisters in law: Gail Parris of Spartanburg, Dale Stamback of Landrum; two nephews: Danny Parris of Fairforest, Eddie Parris of Gramling; her grandchildren: Kari Smalley, Stevie Oliver, Stefanie Oliver, Shelby Hinson, Seth Hinson, Sarah Hinson, Sophia Benedet, Brittany Leonard, Andrew Leonard, Victoria Leonard; and her great grandchildren; Kaylin Smalley and Brayden Smalley. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother; Paul Parris. The family is at the home and will receive friends Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM at Evangel Cathedral. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 PM, with Dr. Randal Langley, Rev. Larry Braswell and Rev. Gary Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman. The family respectfully requests no food donations, but rather have memorials made to Evangel Cathedral Building Fund, 500 Evangel Road Spartanburg, S.C. 29301.
