Dorothy Seay Denton Mathis
Dorothy Mathis, 91, of 415 Brenda Way, Lyman, SC, formerly of Gramling, SC, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum.
Dorothy was born in Spartanburg, SC on July 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Nina Victoria (Cannon) Seay and Weldon Grady Seay.
She was the widow of Paul Mathis and was first married to the late, Francis Earl Denton.
She was retired from Inman Mills, was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and taught MYF. Dorothy was also a member of the bowling league and enjoyed visiting shut-ins. She shared her talents and herself by making silk flower arrangements, painting art and clay figurines and played piano by ear.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Vicki Denton Boyter and husband Keith, of Charlotte, NC; a step daughter, Wilma Davis and husband Dick, of Clover, SC; a step son, Roger Mathis and wife Rita, of Gramling, SC; two sisters, Willyne Seay Coggins, of Boiling Springs, SC; Agnes Seay Horton and husband Jerry, of Gramling, SC; three brothers, Osborne Seay, of Inman, SC; Henry "Billy" C. Seay, of Spartanburg, SC; Lector Seay, of Boiling Springs, SC, one granddaughter, Melanie Frances Boyter Weaver and husband Joseph and several step-grandchildren and great grands.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman, SC with Mr Joseph Weaver officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals On Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605.
