Dorothy Geraldine Pruitt High, 85, of 1113 Dorothy Street, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at her residence. Dorothy was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on September 23, 1933, a daughter of the late Ernest Pruitt and Elvie Evington Pruitt. She was the widow of Andrew Henry High. Mrs. High was a former textile worker, having been employed at Raycord Mill, Drayton Mill and Springs Industries. Later in life, she was employed with Chartwell, working at both Mabry Junior High and Chapman High School. She was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Gail High, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Pamela Gossett and her husband, Jimmy, of Gramling, South Carolina; a grandson, Andrew Gossett of Gramling, South Carolina; a sister, Doris Eubanks of Inman, South Carolina and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. High was predeceased by six siblings.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Seawright Funeral Chapel in Inman, South Carolina, conducted by Rev. Scott Lewellen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gibbs Cancer Center, 101 E. Wood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
