Dorothy "Dot" Gwinn

Dorothy Thorne Gwinn, known affectionately as "Dot", passed away on June 20, 2017 at age 83. She was at home surrounded by her adoring family. Dot fought a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease for the past 20 years. Her beauty, quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and stunning smile despite adversity will be greatly missed by her entire family.
A native of Chesnee, South Carolina, she was born to the late John Thorne and Docia Davis Thorne. Dot graduated with a degree in business from the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg, and was a dedicated employee of the Milliken Corporation for over 30 years.
A devoted wife of 64 years, Dot will be lovingly remembered by her husband, William Dewell Gwinn. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn T. Lawter, her only daughter, Jeri Gwinn Rogers, Granddaughters; Dana Bruce Fulmer and Dori Bruce Burgess and 5 great grandchildren.
A member of Tryon Presbyterian Church, Dot was a brilliant example to others for her unwaivering faith, hope, and shining spirit.
A memorial service will be held at Seawright's Funeral Home on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 2:00pm, receiving of friends to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Tryon Presbyterian Church (building fund) 430 Field Rd. Tryon, NC 28782.
